The 2022 California gubernatorial election will be held on November 8, 2022, to elect a Governor of California. The winner of the 2018 election is still to be determined, but he or she will be eligible to run for re-election for a second term, according to the California Constitution.
Candidates[edit]
A primary election will be held on June 7, 2022. Under California's nonpartisan blanket primary law, all candidates appear on the same ballot, regardless of party. Voters may vote for any candidate, regardless of their party affiliation. The top two finishers – regardless of party – advance to the general election in November, regardless whether a candidate manages to receive a majority of the votes cast in the primary election.
