The Catholic Youth Association Mon is a religious organization under the guidance and support of St. John Bosco Church Mon, Nagaland. It covers a wide range of activities carried out with young people, usually in the name of Catholic Church and with the intention of imparting the Catholic faith to young people and inviting them to practice and live out the faith in their lives. The association was founded on 20th January 2007, with the main aim to encourage and empower young people in their search for meaning of life; to respond to the invitation of Jesus Christ towards wholeness of life, friendship, community, to help young people foster personal, social and spiritual development and to empower them to make a fuller contribution to the Church and society.

History in Brief :[edit]

On the 20th January 2007, the young people of St. John Bosco Church, Mon, gathered together at Mr. Andrew Leangin’s residence (Wagem Ward, Mon Town). It was a day when the young people came as one, to discuss and to set up association, to work together as one under the guidance and support of St. John Bosco Church, Mon. The meeting was headed by the Church elders, who encouraged the young people to never lose hope but to trust in Jesus Christand to live with faith. The meeting thereafter discussed and resolved to set up association and christened it as the Catholic Youth Association Mon.

Aims & objective[edit]

  • To deepen understanding of the Holy Bible, Christian principles and the sacramental life.
  • To provide spiritual development, to understand and enter into Church’s liturgy.
  • To take part in Church related matters.
  • To work towards a better understanding between the youth and the Church.
  • To promote love, cooperation and mutual understanding among youths and other bodies in the Church.
  • To encourage youths to share their spiritual gifts and social talents.
  • To allow the opportunity of self-expression and involvement in the Art and Music to develop skills and confidence.
  • To help young people in reflecting the faith and teaching of the Catholic Church and to live as a disciples of Jesus Christ.
