Centre for Innovative Medical Technology (CIMT)

Centre for Innovative Medical Technology (CIMT) is a research and innovation centre between Odense University Hospital (OUH) and the University of Southern Denmark (SDU). CIMT is the largest research centre for medical technology in Denmark.

From OUH, CIMT is Innovation and the unit for Health Technology Assessment (HTA) and from SDU it is researchers from the Faculty of Health Sciences, the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Faculty of Engineering. PhD students of various educational backgrounds and international researchers and experts are also part of CIMT.

CIMT performs research and innovation within the field of new medical technology. The specific tasks in CIMT are to develop, test, implement and evaluate innovative technologies. The centre carries out different research projects on or with innovative, medical technologies.

CIMT has been part of various projects at OUH, such as

• Digital communication with patients, primarily through the app My Patient Pathway

• Hospitalisations at home with telemedicine, for example for patients with COPD and premature babies

• Interpretation via video

• Early action from municipalities and general practitioners to prevent acute admissions

• Optimising workflows for staff, e.g. with an app to replace lab coat cards or the system RoOS for task distribution

CIMT is also part of the work on developing and improving New OUH (the new superhospital in Odense).

Head of Innovation at OUH is also head of CIMT. The centre is partly funded by OUH and partly by external funding.
