History[edit]

The Italian Sports Center is the oldest multi-sports association active in Italy. Its foundation dates back to 1944, following the Italian Youth of Catholic Action, by having desire to continue the Federation of Italian Catholic Sports Associations (FASCI). It was created in 1906 by the Catholic Action and then dissolved in 1927 in execution of the Royal Decree 6 November 1926, n. 1848 (Consolidated Law of Public Security Laws - TULPS), which established the dissolution of all parties, unions, associations and non-Fascist organizations, which was issued urgently by the Fascist government, just a week after the failed attack suffered by Benito Mussolini by the young anarchist Anteo Zamboni in Bologna on the occasion of the new Stadio Littoriale (now Stadio "Renato Dall'Ara"). After the dissolution of all the "secular" political associations and organizations, the various activities of social and mass importance, including sports, passed under the management and programs of the Fascist Party and local and national governing bodies, without any possibility of democratic life and free initiative.
