Chemical Signals

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Chemical signals are messages that are transmitted as impulses via neurons with the help of special chemicals called Neurotransmitters. How does this happen? The gap in the synapse of two or more neurons is called Synaptic Cleft. That means if there is a gap between two neurons then how is the signal transmitted. In fact when the nerve impulse reaches the axon terminal of one neuron it activates the vesicles present in the axon terminal which release neurotransmitters into the synaptic cleft reaching the dendrites of another neuron communicating with its receptors. Every neurotransmitter has a specific effect on the receptor site. Thats how signal is transmitted via chemicals and it is called Chemical Signal.
