Early life and education[edit]

Chidozie was born in Onitsha, Anambra, Nigeria, a city known for its commercial vibrance across west Africa.[2] He started his education at Central Primary School Odoakpu Onitsha, where he got his First School Living Certificate. He then proceeded to Comprehensive Secondary School and Government Technical College, Onitsha for his O-Level Education. Chidozie bagged a BSC degree in Building Services at the Green Hills University, Denmark.[3]

On May 15, 2013, Vanguard Nigeria[4] reported that Wilson Chidozie Nwankwo was awarded a Ph.D. in Leadership, Community Development, and International Relations by Green Hills University.

Business career[edit]

In 1985, Chidozie ventured into business, and shortly afterward, in 1986, he formed Chido Business Ventures. The venture majorly distributed glass sheets across Nigeria, with Oluwa Glass Industries Ltd being a major supplier. He was awarded the outstanding distributor for the company between 1991-1994 under the German administrator, Dr. Lordloy.[1]

Chidozie identified an opportunity in the textile business around 1995 which led him to start a shipping business in partnership with Maersk Line that imports textiles from Asian Countries like Indonesia, Hong Kong, China, and many more into Africa.[5] The textile business later came to a halt due to the Nigerian government ban on importation of textiles in 2005 under the Revised Import Prohibition Order.[6]

In 1995, Chidozie also founded Wichtech group of companies with subsidiaries like Wichtech Industries Ltd and Wichtech Homes Ltd. With over 120 offices in Nigeria and across Africa, they deal with the supply of stone coated roofing sheets, plumbing solutions, paints, and real estate.[3]

Politics[edit]

The Sun Newspaper[7] and Legit.ng[8] recently reported that Chidozie joined APC in preparation for contesting in the Anambra gubernatorial election, 2021.

Sometime in 2011, he pressured the National Assembly (Nigeria) in passing the draft bill on the National Building Code into law.[9]

Philanthropy[edit]

Independent Nigeria reported that Chidozie has empowered over 120 persons in Nigeria, both in skill acquisitions and monetary grants through his Kingdom Care Foundation (KCF). He has also financially assisted widows, orphans, and missionary activities.[10]
