Christian Lavernier (born in Imperia, 27 July 1979) is an Italian guitarist and composer.

Christian Lavernier was born in Imperia, in 1979. He graduated from the Conservatory Giuseppe Verdi in Milan.

He perfected his technique mainly through the masterclasses of Alirio Diaz, Conrad Ragosnig, David Russell,Angelo Gilardino, Leo Brouwer.

He started to perform as soloist in the 1990s with a classical repertoire and he played concerts in Europe, USA, South America and Asia.

Since 2013 he starts to perform in some concerts in Italy as guest star with: Tommy Emmanuel.[1], Sarah Jane Morris[2], Peter Finger.

In 2014, he has been invited as soloist to perform the Concierto de Aranjuez[3] with the C.D. Bolivar Orchestra for the opening concert of the Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Angostura in Venezuela.

In spring 2016 Christian Lavernier meets the actor Ugo Dighero[4] and the same year they start to work on “Platero y Yo”[5] based on the book of Juan Ramon Jimenez, music by Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco.

In 2017 the luthier Carlos Gonzalez Marcos created a new instrument “La Soñada" (11 strings) dedicated to Christian Lavernier[6].

In 2018, Lavernier starts the new project Contemporary Future based on “La Soñada”. The project involved some Italian and international composers (Azio Corghi[7], Angelo Gilardino, Andrea Talmelli, Flores Chaviano[8]). They have written compositions dedicated exclusively to this instrument. The piece of Azio Corghi, Redobles y Consonancias, is the first composition for “La Soñada” edited by Universal Music – Ricordi. The revision and fingering have been entrusted to Lavernier.
