Cinzia Solari

Cinzia Solari is an assistant professor of sociology at the University of Massachusetts Boston. Her first book, On the Shoulders of Grandmothers: Gender, Migration, and Post-Soviet Nation-State Building (Routledge, 2018) is a global ethnography that compares two grandmother-led migration patterns from Ukraine to Italy and to California to show how post-Soviet Ukraine is being built from the outside.

Education and career[edit]

Solari earned her bachelor’s degree in History and Italian Studies from Brown University. She earned a master’s degree and Ph.D. in sociology from the University of California Berkeley. Currently she is an assistant professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston.[1]
