Clarence "Clancy" Cassell (April 12, 1920 - April 17, 20112) was an actor and newscaster best known for his work on KCBS in San Francisco.
Cassell was born in Stockton California, and studied drama at San Jose State College. He worked first on radio shows, then in television. His most well known work was his recurring performances in Dragnet opposite Jack Webb. He also appeared in episodes of San Francisco Beat, "The Line Up" and Gunsmoke.[1]
However, Mr. Cassell spent most of his work life as a reporter (and then news anchor) on KQW in San Francisco, which later became KCBS. He worked with KCBS from the 1940s until 1983, when he retired.[2]
Mr. Cassell's wife, Katherine, died in 2010. He is survived by the couple's two children, Tina and Matthew.
