Colombian football players in other national teams
This list includes Colombian football players who were born in Colombia, but was raised and/or nationalized from other countries who are FIFA Members. Players who are able to join a national team level (youth or major), according to there the second nationality.[1]
Alessandro Frigerio is known to be the first Colombian ever to join a European national team, which is Switzerland, He was called for the 1938 FIFA World Cup squad, however he did not play any match. He never joined Colombia.[2]
Johan Vonlanthen is the most notable Colombian football player who played for Switzerland and the first compatriot ever to participated to an European Football Championship, on 2004, also in 2008 however he did not play any match.[3].
According to FIFA eligibility rules: "Any player who has already participated in a match (either in full or in part) in an official competition of any category or any type of football for one association may not play an international match for a representative team of another association.[4]"
