A Cronafa is an Egyptian pastry innovation that was created by TBS (The Bakery Shop) in Egypt. The pastry is a croissant rolled in Kunafa and comes in different variety of fillings and toppings cream & pistachio; nutella & nuts; dates & lotus; halawa & sesame[1]. A trademark was registered for the name "Cronafa" at the Egyptian patent and trademark office.

Official Cronafa pastries are sold only at TBS (The Bakery Shop) branches in Cairo and Alexandria in Egypt.

Origin[edit]

It was introduced in Ramadan 2018. Cronafa is a portmanteau of the French (Croissant) and Arabic (Kunafa).

On May 17, 2018, Cronafa was introduced to the market by TBS (The Bakery Shop) by mixing the iconic croissant with Ramadan’s traditional dessert the Konafa. After just one day, Cronafa was picked up by online bloggers and media publishers.[2]
