Cuisine of the Sun is an International Food and Wine Festival curated by Food Network celebrity chef and culinary specialist Penny Davidi for Villa La Estancia, a Villa Group resort located in Riviera Nayarit, Mexico. First launched in 2016, the annual event is supported by the Convention Visitors Bureau of Riviera Nayarit and the Mexican Tourist Board. A line-up of internationally acclaimed chefs from the United States and Latin America run workshops, demonstrations and competitions over a period of 4 days.

2018[edit]

Due to the previous success of the past two years, the Villa Group continued the Cuisine of the Sun International Food and Wine Festival on April 25th through April 28th, 2018 at Villa La Estancia Riviera Nayarit. Once again, famed chefs from around the world came together to collaborate and share their best recipes and culinary expertise with those who attended this exciting gastronomic event. Once again the festival’s curator Chef Penny Davidi executed an exceptional agenda that included delectable tastings and wine pairings, cooking classes, interviews with top chefs, and so much more.

In addition to the Riviera Nayarit affair, 2018 also saw the inclusion of a second location with an inaugural Cuisine of the Sun Food and Wine Festival situated in Cabo San Lucas. Culinary events were held at a variety of Villa Group resorts including Villa del Palmar, Villa del Arco, and Villa La Estancia Los Cabos. The Cabo San Lucas version of the Cuisine of the Sun Festival was held from April 24th to April 27th, 2018 and many internationally acclaimed chefs entertained and enthralled guests with their culinary talent during cooking classes, contests and challenges, and even a high fashion runway show and fireworks display to end the event in spectacular style.

In 2017, the festival ran a series of events from April 26th to April 29th, which included an opening ceremony and cocktail party hosted by Chef Betty Vázquez, cooking classes each day lead by a different guest chef, mixology classes and chopped-challenge style competitions.

Cuisine of the Sun International Food and Wine Festival was first launched on April 13 2016 and ran until April 17th. The festival combined a number of activities such as cooking and mixology classes and competitions involving hotel guests and celebrity chefs.

Cuisine of the Sun International Food] and Wine Festival takes place on the Riviera Nayarit in Mexico at the Villa La Estancia resort, which is part of the Villa Group collection of hotels. The Riviera Nayarit is located on the Pacific coast of Mexico denoting approximately 200 miles of coastline from the Ameca River (which separates the tourist destinations of Nuevo Vallarta and Puerto Vallarta on Banderas Bay) in the Mexican state of Jalisco to the beach town of San Blas in the Mexican State of Nayarit.
