Curtis Goodyear (1968-) was bassist for the band Death from 1995 to 2001, when the band split due to lead vocalist and guitarist Chuck Schuldiner's death on December 13th.

After Death, he went on an unofficial hiatus until 2017, when he formed the band Mantis with Tyler Larkin of Slayer. Mantis named themselves in tribute to Schuldiner, as Death were named Mantas from 1983 to 1984.

Goodyear has contributed greatly to Mantis' signature sound, with his unique triple-finger playing technique and the riffs he writes for the band's works. He has never expressed any need to perform or write with other bands.
