DJ Kanji
Ericson Mangoli Wenani, better known as DJ Kanji, is a Kenyan DJ, record producer, promoter, entrepreneur and Africa’s Number one mix-tape guru.[1] with a growing reputation for his mixtapes[2].
Early Life[edit]
Kanji was born in Nairobi, Kenya on 10 April 1992[3]. He was raised in the eastern town of Mbale Uganda where he spent his childhood, later moving back to Nairobi.
Career[edit]
His early love of music was fuelled by artists his father listened to – the likes of Lucky Dube, Bob Marley, 50 Cent, 2pac, Michael Jackson, Sean Paul and many more. He started DJing during his late teens and quickly established himself[4] in the club music scene. It wasn't long until his mixes achieved airplay[5]
Awards and nominations[edit]
DJ Kanji was nominated for 2018 Mixcloud Online Radio Awards[6] for Listeners Choice Award and Best Online Music Show, Reggae / Dancehall. It was in its fifth year, the Mixcloud Online Radio Awards celebrated of online radio in the world.
Kanji was nominated along Dancehall 360 with Robbo Ranx[7], Channel One, Worldwide FM, Frequency Radio with Jah Frequency and On U Sound Sunday Roast.
