Matthew Keelan (born 5 January 1996), better known by his stage name DJ Matt Keelan or KLN,[1] is a British DJ, record producer and remixer from Brighton, currently based in Costa Rica.
Early life[edit]
Matt Keelan was born and raised in Brighton, England and is of British and Costa Rican descent. Matt moved to Costa Rica at 13, where one of the main things that he had in common with a new culture; was music. He began producing music for a Punk/Hardcore band he was in when he was 14-15. Without much success, he continued learning and proceeded to progress into EDM production, and ghost producing Hip-Hop beats for artists on online platforms such as Soundcloud
Musical career[edit]
At the age of 19, Keelan started DJ'ing at local pubs and clubs and earning additional income by helping with social media marketing for fellow musicians. Quickly gaining popularity, Matt had a residency at various local clubs, and quickly progressed to Prime Time headlining sets at events like Nocturnal[2], which in turn due to national recognition from mainstream national media newspapers such as La Nación (San José), he began receiving bookings from organizers all around Costa Rica and due to these tours around the region, he gained a large social media following. In 2018, he released "Start Again", the first recording under the KLN name. Matt has been working and collaborating with other large and well known local artists along with receiving recognition from other international artists in the EDM scene, aswell as the underground Hip-Hop scene. Even though not much music has been officially released due to being an Independant Artist, KLN is definitely a producer to look out for as he has goals towards the mainstream Hip-Hop scene and goals towards large scale EDM production projects aswell as collaborations with large names in the works.
