His music has been influenced by different artistic movements like film, photography and theater plays. His first releases were influenced by Detroit techno and transcended to dubstep and trap.

Biography[edit]

Jose Daniel was born on June 16, 1989 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He grew up with his 4 siblings in a low-middle class family. His high school studies were always a problems as in various occasions he was expelled from different schools. At age 12, Jose Daniel started playing guitar and that’s how he started getting into the music scene. He started producing when he was 16 years old. When he was 21 years old, Dano had the opportunity to study in Berklee School of Music online, while working in an ad agency in Tegucigalpa, this was when Dano has the chance to work on his own first productions. These first tracks were techno and minimal and he took the opportunity of sharing his music through social media and big gigs in Honduras[1] and Central America. [2]

Influences[edit]

On his own words, as Dano said on 2012:[3]

“I started producing experimental tracks and I realized that it had a completely different perspective from mainstream music. That’s when I first started listening to artists such as Richie Hawtin, Carl Cox, Jeff Mills, Super Flu, Gaiser… That’s when I said to myself ‘This is what I want to do’.”[4]

Today, his music is influenced by Getter, Suicideboys, Kaytranada, Snails, Ghostmane and it has a more dark, aggressive, guttural, and abstract, always melodic sound.

These opportunities that Dano took with international recording labels gave him a great base for his ongoing record producer career. Today he leads his own record label, Boombox Records, doing different projects both with Honduran and foreign artists.

Temporary Retirement and Comeback in 2017[edit]

Dano retired temporarily in 2013 due to a medical condition called[7] Tinnitus, which stopped him for making music. He decided to retire from music to dedicate himself to business and advertising in his country. He founded his own advertising agency called MBH Agency in 2012.
