It offers digital solutions and systems for color measurement, color matching, quality control and color communication from production to marketing. These solutions are used in a wide variety of areas, such as in the textile and automotive industries, specialty chemicals in the paint, coatings and plastics sectors, as well as in photography and in digital image processing.

The company, which emerged from the Farben division of the former Eichhof Holding AG, employs around 370 people in over 25 countries. It is publicly traded on the Swiss Stock Exchange. The current CEO of Datacolor is Albert Busch.

History[edit]

Datacolor was founded in 1970 in the United States. Originally, the company developed solutions for industrial color applications. Later, activities were extended to color communication and digital imaging solutions.

The Color Business Division recently contributed almost 30 percent to the total sales of Eichhof Holding. At the end of August 2008, Eichhof Holding sold its beverage division to the Dutch Heineken Group. After the real estate division had been sold to the BVK pension plan of the canton of Zurich in December 2008 , Datacolor's color division was Eichhof Holding's only remaining division. As a result, Eichhof Holding was renamed Datacolor in January 2009.

Datacolor has launched seven textile-specific colour measurement tools since 2014: the 45 Family; 500 Family; 800 Family; CHECK3; 200 Family; ColorReaderPRO; and SpectraVision (Link).
