David Dowsey is an Australian writer and television producer.

Biography[edit]

David Dowsey's book on Aston Martin (Aston Martin: Power, Beauty and Soul) revealed for the first time the custom cars built by the Aston Martin Special Projects Team for the Brunei Royal Family[1][2][3]

He wrote Elfin Sports Cars (Elfin: The Spirit of Speed) after interviewing more than 50 subjects, including Vern Schuppan, Larry Perkins, John Bowe, Bob Jane, John McCormack, Frank Matich, Spencer Martin and Kevin Bartlett.[4]

Dowsey's book about Sydney bespoke tailoring house, JH Cutler (Making the Cut: The Power and Passion behind a Tailoring Dynasty), detailed for the first time the behind-the-scenes story of Australian Test Cricket captain and Channel Nine commentator, Richie Benaud's famous cream sports coat[5]

In 2023, Dowsey co-authored HSV: The ultimate compilation of HSV history, and revealed for the first time McLaren F1 designer, Peter Stevens, designed HSV's first car, the 1988 VL SS Group A 'Walkinshaw'.

He executive produced the eight-part television series Cool Cars with Dermott and Elise, which aired on the 7 Network in Australia in 2023, starring Dermott Brereton and Elise Elliott[6]
