David Wilmshurst

David Wilmshurst is a scholar of eastern Christianity, particularly the Church of the East and other branches of Syriac Christianity. He was educated at Worcester College, Oxford, where he received a first-class BA degree in Classics (1979) and a DPhil degree in Oriental Studies (1998). His research on Christianity in the Middle East and Asia involves sources written in Syriac, Arabic and Chinese. Before retirement, he worked as an Academic Editor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He has written The Ecclesiastical Organisation of the Church of the East, 1318 - 1913 (Louvain, 2000) and The Martyred Church - A History of the Church of the East (Bishop's Stortford, 2011).[1]
