David Kerr (born April 12, 1990), better known by his stage name Davo, is a rapper, singer, composer, and record producer. He received initial recognition for his production on the Tory Lanez's mixtape, Conflicts of My Soul: The 416 Story, released in August 2013. .[1]

Davo is signed to Tory Lanez's record label One Umbrella. He co-wrote "Super Freak" featuring Rick Ross off Lanez's 2017 mixtape "The New Toronto 2" and "Connection" from Lanez's 2018 sophomore album "Memories Don't Die." Davo and Tory Lanez are childhood friends and frequent collaborators. [2] [3] [4]


Early life[edit]

Davo was born in Kingston Jamaica. He is the son of Junior Marvin, lead guitarist for Bob Marley and The Wailers. [5]

Davo began rapping after moving to New York City and becoming immersed in hip hop culture. His family later settled into Miami, Florida where he would fine tune his proficiency on the drums, guitar and piano. [6]He would also end up befriending a neighborhood kid by the name of Daystar Peterson (Tory Lanez). Davo and Tory have been recording together for 10 years. [7]

2013–2018: Career beginnings[edit]

As a record producer Davo has produced songs including "Taken x G Party" from Tory Lanez’s 2013 mixtape Conflicts Of My Soul. [8] He co-wrote and was featured along side Def Jam recording artist Fabolous on “Connection” from Lanez’s 2018 sophomore Interscope album Memories Don’t Die. [9] In 2014 Davo went on tour with G-Eazy and Tory Lanez as a supporting act during the "These Things Happen Tour" which ran for 40 stops throughout the United States and Canada.[10]


In 2018 Davo was signed to Lanez’s One Umbrella Music Group [11]


2018–Present: Single Releases and Album[edit]

In September, 2019 Davo released a music video for the track "Pull Up" featuring Tory Lanez. [12]

Davo has been working on his debut album LXD (Love x Dreams) which will be released in September 2020. The album features the lead single "Say Something", "5. M. P. R. (Money Power Respect)" and "Senorita" featuring his father Junior Marvin on guitar. The album will also feature Rich the Kid and Tory Lanez. [13]

On July 2, 2020 Davo's music video for "Say Something" premiered on TMZ Live where the Host/Co-Executive Producer Charles Latibeaudiere talked about them being cousins. [14]

Davo's sound has been described as "Psychedelic R&B". [15]
