Lady Deirdre Dyson is a fine artist by training and is the founder of the eponymous bespoke carpet company, which she established in 2001.[1].

Deirdre studied at Bram Shaw for fine art and Wimbledon school of Art for graphic design[2] and quickly built her credentials as an artist, illustrating a regular column for Vogue as well as showing her work in solo exhibitions in London and New York[3].

Building on her foundations in fine art, Deirdre was drawn to create artwork with wool as well as paint and learned the skills required to work with textile[4]. With her team, Deirdre takes initial sketches and paintings to prototype to design to hand-crafted production. It is a blend of art and process, of ancient skill and new technology.

The Deirdre Dyson gallery, on the Kings Road in Chelsea [5], is the culmination of 20 years of carpet design and she creates at least one themed carpet collection every year. Deirdre Dyson and her carpets are celebrated within the interior design and architectural worlds[6] and have won multiple awards[7][8][9], they are also the subject of a Thames and Hudson book, 'Walking on Art'[10]

Deirdre Dyson is married to Sir James Dyson. Through their charitable foundation, they support art, design and technology education - both institutions and individuals.
