Denzel Alpine Road Scale
Draft : Denzel Alpine Road Scale based on https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denzel-Alpenstra%C3%9Fen-Skala
Driving skill levels according to the Denzel Alpine Road Scale in the Großer Alpenstraßenführer (Big Alpine Road Guide) from the Denzel-Verlag. All listed pass and mountain roads, which also include old gravel roads and poorly preserved military routes, were divided into those levels. For the overall assessment, various factors such as route, pavement, width, margin, inclines and descent, absolute and relative altitude, etc. were used. The principally vehicle-independent scale comprises five basic grades SG 1 to SG 5 and four intermediate grades (for example SG 3-4).
Difficulty level | Meaning | Description |
---|---|---|
SG 1 | Very easy to drive mountain route, also for beginners. |
|
SG 2 | Track without significant requirements, even easy to drive for people not used to alpine roads. |
|
SG 3 | Route requires practice and safe driving technique on mountain roads. |
|
SG 4 | Even for mountainous difficult route, requires far above average outstanding driving skills. |
|
SG 5 | Very difficult and dangerous route, use at your own risk |
