The service began as DHOBI GHAT-Online Laundry, and in August 2016 was renamed as Dhobi G-Laundry Service.
By 2017, Dhobi G launched in Ramapuram, Vadapalani, Porur,Saligramam and Nesapakkam and introduced smartphone applications With the introduction of dhobighat.co domains in 2016, Dhobi G also launched dhobighatonline.com, a site dedicated to Dhobi Ghat, Mumbai.
In 2018, Dhobi G expanded to the other part of the Chennai including Adyar In November 2017, it use to get order on an average of 45 per day with average ticket size of Rs. 400 . Till now the company is on the way of bootstrapping. The company is profitable . According to the founder he is focusing on a stable growth rather than a sudden raise and fall. Laundry industry of India has already faced many startup shutting down even after raising a markable amount as fund.

Dhobi G has brought a change in the way of laundry business approach. Its dedicated to the person who has less free time And planning to have a professional laundry service. Company with its unique business model has decreased the transportation cost, delivery time with helped them to provide a budget premium laundry service with 2hr pick and delivery time. When Dhobi G was launched it offered washing and folding at just Rs5 per piece of cloth. That cloth may be bed sheet or towel.
