Dotto Daudi Rangimoto(Born 1986)his pen name is Jini Kinyonga, is a Tanzanian poet of the present era. He uses social networks and newspapers to reach his audience. He writes Swahili poetry and focuses on various aspects of society.

Personal Life[edit]

Dotto was born in Morogoro Tanzania about 196km(122m) west of Dar es salaam. He completed his primary school education at Chamwino Primary School in 1999 and continued his studies at Morogoro Secondary School where he completed his secondary education in 2004. Thereafter, he has been involved in small enterprise business and farming.

His Success in Poetry[edit]

In 2017 Dotto's unpublished manuscript won The Mabati-Cornel Swahili Prize for African Literature.[1][2]. Judges in recognizing the long Kiswahili literary tradition said “In Mwanangu Rudi Nyumbani one encounters seductive metaphors and imagery, effectively and successfully used in diverse Kiswahili poetic forms and styles while articulating concerns that have direct bearing to the human condition. Dotto discusses weighty and serious matters but in a manner that doesn’t burden the reader. Instead he encourages one to keep on reading. He is a master of the craft. The volume is a great contribution to contemporary Kiswahili poetry".[3][4]
