Dr Marwa Ali MBBS PGDip Derm, dubbed the ‘Queen of Injectables’ [1] by Vogue Arabia, is a London-based Doctor of Aesthetic Medicine, renowned for her pioneering combination therapies and injectable techniques to create ultra-natural anti-ageing skin tweakments.[2] She is the resident aesthetic doctor at The Wellness Clinic in Harrods, London. Early Life[edit]
One of four children, Ali was born in London on 22nd January 1987. Both her parents are of Iraqi decent; Her mother moved to the UK from Iraq, and her father from Syria, meeting and marrying in London. Both parents are practicing Muslims, though her father’s family is of Iraqi Jewish ancestry.
Education[edit]
Ali attended the independent Al Zahra School for Girls in London until completion of her GCSE’s, before attending Sixth Form at Henrietta Barnett School for Girls in Hampstead for her A Levels.
Ali began her medical studies at St George’s Hospital, University of London, where she attained her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery. She subsequently studied at Queen Mary University of London to complete her Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Dermatology. It was while completing her studies at Queen Mary University of London that she discovered cosmetic dermatology: “It provided me with the perfect balance of applying my medical knowledge and simultaneously expressing my artistic flair”
Career[edit]
Ali first garnered attention for her techniques whilst working at the Phi Clinic. She is now a principal Consultant at the world-famous Wellness Clinic, a 10,500 sq ft Health and Medical Clinic within Harrods.[4] Since the start of her residency in 2017, Dr Ali has steadily built a dedicated UK and International client base, due to her skill at ‘under-filling’ to create incredibly natural effects and her clients include Royalties, celebrities, and Editors. In addition to her work with Botox, Profilo and X, Ali is also known for medical grade facials and laser treatments; Her ‘Gala Glow Facial’ [5] is regarded as the gold-standard in combination pre-red-carpet treatments. Ali is regularly featured in print, digital and social media notably in publications such as British Vogue, The Telegraph, Sunday Times Style, British ELLE, Grazia Middle East, Harper’s Bazaar Arabia and Vogue Arabia. In 2021, Ali was announced as one of 12 International Obagi Skincare Ambassadors.
Personal Life[edit]
Ali has a son Ahmed from her first marriage and resides in London. A keen charity activist, Ali has regularly donated her time to medical efforts, has contributed to A World without Barriers and will be joining the 2022 Cash & Rocket drive to raise money for Sumbandila, an organisation that provides merit scholarships to children in South Africa and The Helen Bamber Foundation which provides expert care and support for refugees in the UK who have suffered extreme cruelty such as human trafficking and gender based violence.
