Clare Malone is an American political journalist who works as a senior political writer for the blog FiveThirtyEight.[1]
Early life and education[edit]
Clare Malone grew up in Shaker Heights, Ohio[2] and attended college at Georgetown University, graduating in 2009.[3]
Career[edit]
Clare Malone was a web editor at The American Prospect from 2012 to 2014 and a fact checker at The New Yorker from 2014 to 2015.[4] Her reporting has appeared in publications including Harper's,[5] The New Yorker,[6] and The American Prospect.[7]
Since November 2015, Malone has covered politics for FiveThirtyEight, including the 2016 presidential election[8] and the Trump administration.[9] She is also a regular on the FiveThirtyEight politics podcast, along with Nate Silver and Harry Enten.
Malone's brand of journalism has been described as "really interesting and unique... combining data with storytelling," by Mary Kilpatrick of the Ohio Matters podcast.[10] She is known for commenting on how the Trump presidency has affected both political reporting and societal norms more widely, [11] as well as its impact on governmental structures.[12]
