East, Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians
The East, Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians (ECSACOP) is a constituent college within the ECSA College of Health Sciences([1]. It is an incorporated, non-profit regional organisation, currently housed within the Infectious Diseases Institute in Kampala, Uganda.
ECSACOP benefits from having the Royal College of Physicians (London) as its lead partner[2]
ECSACOP aims to improve access to well-trained physicians across the region through establishing a network of dedicated training centres and implementing a high quality postgraduate medical qualification, which will see public health workforce capacities enhanced. The organisation's vision is 'healthy communities through access to well-trained physicians'[3]
ECSACOP has so far been granted regulatory approval in Zambia and Zimbabwe. Training commenced in those countries in September 2018[4]
