On May 11, 2017, Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine acquired the rights to adapt Gail Honeyman’s novel Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine, with Witherspoon producing the film alongside Lauren Levy Neustadter.[1] On December 19, 2018, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer will distribute the film and Liz Hannah will write the script.[2]

On May 11, 2017, Witherspoon is in talks to play Eleanor.[1]
