Elsie Gaches Village is a residential care facility for mentally challenged persons. It provides care and rehabilitation to abandoned, neglected children with special needs such as cerebral palsy, epilepsy, visual and hearing impairment, mental retardation, autism and other related conditions.[1][2]
History[edit]
The EGV was founded by American couple Samuel and Elsie Gaches, who donated their 16-hectare summer villa to the government on Feb. 3, 1964, so it could be used as an asylum for the sick, aged and handicapped.[3]
