Erithe M. Smith (born August 28, 1957) was the first African American female to serve as a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit Court (1994)[1]. She was appointed by the United States Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit on May 2, 1994, and reappointed on May 2, 2008.
