Esther Turan (born on the 9th of November 1979, Budapest) is a producer, director, and a founding member of Moviebar Productions.[1] full-service film production company.

She obtained a television director degree at the University of Theatre and Film Arts in Budapest in 2002. She has worked in several different fields of the film industry from AD to casting director.

Biography[edit]

After her graduation in 2004, she established her film production company, Moviebar Productions. At first, they specialized in Hungarian commercials with the co-founder and producer Viktória Trepper [2], and they’ve later started to make advertisements for international brands.

Esther established the film and television department within Moviebar Productions in 2013. Currently, she runs that division, while her partner, Viktória Trepper, manages the commercial division.

In 2018 she opened the second headquarters of Moviebar Productions in Los Angeles, where she builds collaborations between American TV professionals and European filmmakers, and she develops her own projects.

They have already produced a children's show for the Swedish National Television[3] (Doreen's Friends), and they are working for HBO Nordic permanently. They have also embarked on a 42-part Hungarian TV show commissioned by Sony Pictures Television[4] and Viasat 3. Mostly indie and arthouse productions are their main profile.
