From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Formation: December 14, 2007 Type: Scientific and networking society Legal status: Non-profit organization under French loi 1901 Headquarters: Paris, France. President: Armines, represented by Dr Patrick Navard Website: www.epnoe.eu

The European Polysaccharide Network of Excellence (EPNOE) is as an independent non-profit organization under French law connecting research and education centers, universities and companies in Europe in the polysaccharide field. EPNOE started its activities in 2003 and was formally launched in 2005 with the help of the European Commission. Twenty-five universities/research centers and eleven companies are members of EPNOE. Under EPNOE patronage, they organize or participate in networking events, meetings and conferences. EPNOE's main missions are (1) to offer a networking platform enabling close interactions between members in order to favor innovation, boost knowledge transfer and organize R&D activities in a totally confidential manner, (2) to organize basic and applied research for the study of fundamental concepts, the testing of new ideas and the development of new products based on or containing polysaccharides and (3) to organize education in polysaccharide science at the level of continuing education for companies and of post-graduate students and post-docs. It is publishing every two months its EPNOE Newsletter [1]

Collaboration with other societies

American Chemical society: EPNOE has a long standing history of collaboration with the American Chemical Society, mainly through join patronage of conferences [2]. Several members of EPNOE received its prestigious Anselme Payen award.

European Bioplastics: European Bioplastics and EPNOE jointly publish the Pro-Bip Study in 2009 forecasting the substitution potentials of fossil-based polymers by biobased materials [3)

Established collaborations with Céréales Vallée (France), Polintegra (Poland), Bioeconomy cluster (Germany), Controlled Released Society (Italian chapter), Cellulose Society of Japan (Japan), Riadicyp (South America)
