Robert Evan Lee Cox (born September 29, 2000) is an American professional wrestler better known by the ring name Evan Golden. A second generation wrestler, he is the son of Eddie Golden. He is the current SOM Hybrid Champion in his first reign.

Robert Evan Lee Cox was born on September 29, 2000 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, North Carolina.

Professional wrestling career[edit]

Early career (2021 - 2023)[edit]

Golden made his debut on December 18, 2021 for Uprise Pro Wrestling, where he was defeated by Brandon Paradise. Golden debuted for Intense Championship Wrestling Asylum in Morristown, Tennessee on February 19, 2022 where he competed in the Asylum Rumble. Golden teamed with his father Eddie for the first time on April 16, 2022 in Elizabethton, Tennessee alongside Stan Lee. The Golden's and Lee were defeated by Wayne Adkins and The Hillbillies. On May 6, 2022, Golden defeated Josh Munday at All Star Championship Wrestling in Erwin, Tennessee.

On May 27, 2022, Golden began a feud with fellow second generation wrestler Alex Adkins. Golden and Chainz defeated Adkins and Allen King in a tag team match. Golden would defeated Adkins in two singles matches following the meeting.

On September 24, 2022, Golden was defeated by Jeff Connelly in a singles match at New Outlaw Wrestling in Erwin, Tennessee. On October 22, 2022, Connelly announced an open challenge for his Rocky Top Heavyweight Championship, in which Golden answered. Golden defeated Connelly, winning his first championship. Golden made his first title defense as champion the following day, defeating Skylar Kruze at New Outlaw Wrestling. Following the match, Golden began tag teaming with Kruze. On November 19, 2022, Golden and Kruze were defeated by Alyx Winters and Tyler Foshie. Golden and Kruze were defeated again on December 10, 2022 by Stan Lee and Joe Briggs in Duffield, Virginia.

Golden teamed with Synn Krowley on December 17, 2022 in Abington, Virginia against Jeff Connelly and Mega Destroyer. Golden and Krowley defeated Connelly and Mega Destroyer by a double roll-up.

Golden debuted for Intense Championship Wrestling Asylum in Morristown, Tennessee on February 19, 2022 where he competed in the Asylum Rumble. On August 20, 2022, Golden returned to ICWA, losing to Darnell the Disciple and later being eliminated from the Screwballs Rumble by Wicked Jay and Rashard Kennedy. On October 15, 2022, Golden competed in the Deal with the Devil ladder matke Ghost and costing Jay an opportunity to grab the briefcase. On December 3, 2022, Golden and Jay faced off in singles action, with Golden losing by disqualifying himself.

On February 11, 2023, Golden returned to ICWA to face Jay in a rematch, accompanied to the ring by Memphis MecHeoN and Ashley Golden. Golden defeated Jay after hitting him in the face with brass knuckles behind the referee's back.

Golden debuted for Asheville-based promotion Urban Combat Wrestling on February 26, 2023 at Mimosa Slam II, teaming with Jacob Thrasher. Golden and Thrasher were defeated by The Faction (Jeff Connelly and Wild Bill), accompanied by Jeff Baker.

National Wrestling Alliance and SOM Live (2023 - present)[edit]

On May 7, 2023, Golden unsuccessfully challenged Kerry Morton for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship.

Golden debuted for School of Morton's SOM Live on SOM 5:05 Live, challenging Blade Gibson to a match for the SOM Hybrid Championship. On the following episode, Golden defeated Santiago and continued to taunt Gibson, who was absent from the venue. Golden defeated Gibson to win the SOM Hybrid Championship. On the following episode after winning the title, Golden defeated Santiago in a rematch after hitting his finisher, the Afterburner.

Music career[edit]

On March 19, 2020, Golden released his first single as a musician titled "Up Now" on streaming services. Golden released his second single "Walk" approximately one year later. His third single, "Jet Lag", was released on May 28, 2021 alongside MecHeoN. His third single, "Huntin' for Myself" was released on July 10 in collaboration with James Tate.

Personal life[edit]

Golden resides in Asheville, North Carolina. He operates his own Twitch channel, where he broadcasts gameplay of titles such as Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone.
