The Federation of European National Statistical Societies (FENStatS) is a single association whose members are 24 European National Societies of Statistics. Federation promotes mutual communication, co-operation and interchange of views among all those interested in statistical sciences, in their scientific principles, in a broad sense and in as wide a range of applications as possible. The Federation serves as an agency for the dissemination of technical and scientific information among the National Statistical Societies forming the federation, promoting their mutual collaboration and those activities that can augment the research scientific impact of the members, including international conferences, journals, books and other publications.

The Federation of European National Statistical Societies was established in 2011 in Dublin.

Structure of the Society[edit]

The Society's structure and governance are established by the Statutes of the Federation. The main governance body of the Society is the Council, chaired by the President.

The Council[edit]

The Council is the highest authority of the Federation. It shall make all policy decisions, in particular concerning the aims and scopes of the Federation. It submits any vital question to the member societies of the Federation for discussion and decides on the basis of the returned proposals. It shall act upon proposals submitted to it by the Executive Committee.

An existing European Scientific National Statistical Society may apply as a new Member of FENStatS. In 2018 the FENStatS has the following 24 members:

Educational Activities[edit]

As part of the internationalization plan the Federation encourages the immersion of doctorate and post-doctorate students in Statistical Sciences in international research networks. Doctorate and post-doctorate position in Statistical Sciences will be announced in the website of the Federation. ECAS, the European Courses in Advanced Statistics will be included in the Federation and shall serve as the institution to organize advanced courses in statistics.
