Fleep is a cloud-based team collaboration tool, offering group and direct messaging, email and task management. Fleep was founded by ex-Skype employees, who were frustrated with Skype's deficiencies as a group chat tool for small businesses and organizations.[4]

    History[edit]

Henn Ruukel left Skype to start Fleep. The decision to build Fleep was born out of frustration with how Skype would never focus as much attention on the written messaging as its focus was on video and voice messaging capabilities.[5] Fleep was launched in August 2013.[6] Fleep came out of beta in August 2014.[7]

    Features[edit]

Fleep is a network, meaning all Fleep users can talk to each other and they are not limited to communicating only within one team per account.[8] While other messaging tools allow communication only within their platform, Fleep's key differentiator is email interoperability, as it combines email communication and chat in one tool.[9]

Other key features of Fleep include task management and information sharing in a wiki-format.[9]

    Platforms[edit]

Fleep is multi-platform — it is available on the web browser, and also has native apps for iOS, Android, Windows and Mac.[2]

    Business model[edit]

Fleep has raised at least €1.9 million, including an undisclosed amount from Skype cofounder Jaan Tallinn.[10]

Fleep is a freemium product — basic functionality of Fleep is free to use, and full functionality is available with the paid version.[9]
