Fousey vs. Slim was a white-collar amateur boxing match between the Yemeni YouTuber Slim Albaher and the American YouTuber FouseyTUBE. The card consisted of a number of boxers, including a bout between the YouTuber Adam Saleh and Marcus Stephenson.

The bout took place on 29 September 2019 at 8:30 PM BST in the York Hall, London, England, and was streamed on YouTube platform. The event resulted in Slim defeating FouseyTUBE and Adam Saleh defeating Marcus Stephenson.

The event was produced by England-based company Winfinity. The fight was promoted as "Yemen We Care" and "YouTube Charity Boxing".

Background[edit]

In July 2019, Slim told that his manager wanted to book him for an event. In August 2019, an English professional boxing company named Winfinity signed the YouTubers Slim and Adam Saleh for a boxing match. Slim then had some Twitter beef with FouseyTUBE. The company also signed YouTuber FouseyTUBE for the event and the company booked Slim vs Fousey boxing match. Fousey was also supposed to have a boxing match against Jake Paul if he won the match.

Coaches[edit]

Slim's main coach for the event was former world champion Sadam Ali[1] while Fousey was trained by former boxer Ricky Funez.[2]

Press conference[edit]

On 27 September 2019, the press conference was held at the Faringdon Grove, Romford in England which was hosted by co-founder of Amir Khan Productions, Riz Malik. In the press conference, Slim then started to diss Fousey and then Fousey replied by saying that Slim is an irrelevant YouTuber and that he took the fight just for charity.[3] The press conference resulted in a face-off where Slim took the championship for which he was fighting against Fousey.

Weigh-in[edit]

The weigh-in took place at the Mayfair Avenue, Romford in England[4] which was hosted by Riz Malik. Slim weighed 158 lb (72 kg) while Fousey weighed 180 lb (81 kg).[5]

Fight summary[edit]

When the first round started, Slim had the upper hand and in the third round, Fousey's nose started to bleed.[6] In the fourth round, after Slim was annihilating Fousey, the towel was thrown and Slim won by Technical knockout.[7] After Slim was declared the winner, he said that he loves Fousey and hugged Fousey and ended the rivalry. Slim also said that he won this fight for Yemen. Fousey told that he let his coaches down. Fousey also told that he won't box again.[8]

Reception[edit]

The fight and the lead-up to it caught the attention of mainstream media. British YouTuber Deji watched the event live. He criticized Fousey's coaches and said "His coaches could have prevented looking more like a meme cuz he just didn't defend himself, his coaches are terrible".[9] YouTubers KSI, Viddal Riley, AnEsonGib, Calfreezy and many others also gave their thoughts about the match.[10]

Attendance[edit]

The event had an attendance of 1,000 people in the York Hall with numerous celebrities such as world champion Amir Khan, British singer Harris J and many others were also present in the event.

Charity raised[edit]

Slim told that the event raised over £400,000 for Yemen.[11]

Aftermath[edit]

After the match, Fousey went to hospital for nose surgery.[6] Both Fousey and Slim released their documentaries about the match and then Slim went on to continue his boxing career while Fousey announced that he won't box again.[8]
