Dylan James Davies (born 1 February 2003),[7] also known as Fxtch is an English former professional gamer[8][9] and content creator[10] (YouTuber or internet personality). Through gaming (Fortnite) videos on YouTube, he has earned more than 400,000 followers and over 15 million views of over 300 videos.[11] He is currently working for Goldenvoice, a subsidiary of AEG Presents, on Coachella - the world's biggest music festival.[12]

Early life[edit]

Davies was born on 1 February 2003, in Warwickshire, England to Australian father, K. J. Davies from Williamstown, Victoria, and British mother, T. Wilkinson from Coventry. He grew up alongside his two siblings, twin Libby and older sister Carly, living in Bedworth.

Davies uploaded his first YouTube video, about the game Call of Duty, in 2012.

Despite being secular at the time, Dylan was involuntary put into a catholic primary school, being St Michael's Church of England Academy. In 2015, Dylan moved up to the high school, Nicholas Chamberlaine (age 11-12) where he later graduated in 2019 (age 16), only to attend college where he would study Graphic Design for just 3 days, before formally disenrolling to pursue his passion as the influencer we know today, Fxtch.[13]

Career[edit]

Dylan later started to monetize his YouTube videos, taking things seriously during late high school (age 15), uploading his first video under the alias 'Fxtch' (pronounced "Fetch") on 23 August, 2018.[14] Fxtch's early YouTube content consisted of gaming highlights on the online Battle Royale video game, Fortnite, in which was exploding with popularity at the time. Dylan was particularly good at this game, amongst the rest to say the least, and this only lead him to sign a deal with the largest esports team out of Denmark, Team Singuarlity on 23 August 2019. He would be known from this point onwards as a "Professional Gamer", now having to compete under Singularity's name at ESL's, Dreamhack competitive gaming tournament[15] on 21 November 2019.

After a good while of heavily competing at a professional level, Dylan took the decision to step back from Singularity and instead focus on just content creation alone. He soon began to pitch himself to entertainment companies, which eventually would land him a deal with one of, arguably, the best creator management agencies in esports, CarterPulse. CarterPulse assisted Fxtch in now joining a North American team, called Team Kungarna, where he would be salaried to produce video content whilst representing their tag, "KNG" - this is where things really started to skyrocket in relation to his social media following.

In the timeframe of 6 months, Fxtch had gained well over 60,000+ new supporters to his YouTube channel, hitting the dream milestone of 100,000 subscribers[16] on 6 February, 2021 (age 18), just after his contract term with Kungarna had expired.

Over the course of Fxtch's everlasting career, he had joined many other large professional gaming organisations and featured in viral video content, really making a name for himself in the "Fortnite community". He did not always enjoy being the gamer though. Dylan wanted to be involved at a higher level, so he courageously took his skills in both video creation, content and community management, to now work for gaming organisations in the hierarchy. Subsequently, this was his segue into the crazy world of music.

Dylan was officially hired by a branch of Goldenvoice to work on music & arts festival, Coachella on 5 January, 2022. His specific focus being Community Management & Development, where he would bridge the gap between the inner Coachella community (music & art lovers) and Web3 in Discord.

News & associations[edit]

On 23 August 2019, Fxtch was initially scouted & contracted by esports extraordinaire, Atle S. Stehouwer[17][18] to Denmark professional gaming organisation, Team Singularity[19][20] - home of the largest esports academy in the world.[21][22][23] Team Singularity is a reputable team in the gaming community; winning the Call of Duty Championship's in 2019[24][25], and as a result being verified on the popular social media platform, Twitter.[26]

On 17 June 2020, licensed attorney, Daniel Pulse signed Fxtch to esports management agency, CarterPulse.[27][28] CarterPulse is known to have assisted some of the biggest names in the gaming industry, including FaZe Clan's very own,[29] Jarvis Khattri.[30]

On 30 July 2020, Fxtch's contract was terminated, disbanding him from Team Singularity. He later signed with a new team, North American esports organisation, Team Kungarna[31][32] - winners of Apex Legends: ALGS Championship.[33][34] It is believed Fxtch competed under Kungarna (abbreviated to KNG), at the Fortnite World Cup[35][36] in New York City on 26 July 2019. According to dates, this was prior to his affixation at Team Singularity, yet no official announcement was posted.

On 9 January 2021, Fxtch's contract expired with Team Kungarna, where he mutually agreed to leave the organisation. On 8 March 2021, Fxtch then re-signed with former team, Singularity after his recent surge of growth across social media. He has been seen to actively represent them in present time.

On 7 March 2021, It is said that Fxtch felt demotivated with both gaming, stepping up from his Content Creator position in Singularity. Fxtch announced he would now act as 'Head of Content' - working internally with the team.

On 26 May 2021, Fxtch's success led him to receive a personal Society Awards creator award (AKA an 100k plaque),[37] from YouTube.[38] He also was sent a signed congratulations letter from YouTube CEO, Susan Wojcicki.

On 9 September 2021, Fxtch joined the likes of Russian DJ, Anton "Zedd" Zaslavski[39] and was officially verified by Discord[40] as an official "public figure of interest". Fxtch's Discord servers remains some of the biggest on the platform, with a collective 300,000+ active members, as of 4 December 2021.

On 23 September 2021, Fxtch ran into some legal conflict with Google; receiving his first YouTube channel strike[41] - announced by famous YouTuber, itsJerian who also was affected.[42] Despite him initially believing this strike was falsely distributed,[43] it was later proven accurate and submitted by the game, Fortnite's founding company, Epic Games. It is said this strike was issued in response to a filed copyright claim, due to Dylan breaking Epic Games Terms of Service in a video he uploaded back in 2019. Accusation was denied and till this day, it is unclear what happened since.

On 16 November 2021, Fxtch announces his affiliation to computer company, Apex Gaming PC's, releasing a custom line of high-end gaming computers for his supporters.[44]

On 3 January 2022, Fxtch leaked his "soon to be announced" partnership with the controversial subscription service[45], OnlyFans (abbreviated to OF). Supporters found that Dylan had created a profile, in which was verified by OF, yet never posted on the platform or heavily promoted the site either - it is still unknown why such deal was not followed through.

On 5 January 2022, Fxtch started a new endeavour in the world of music, pursing Community Management & Development, where he landed his first gig under boutique creative agency, IAMJT. Dylan impressively began work for one of the most innovative companies, music events company, Goldenvoice on Coachella - statistically one of the biggest music festivals in the world[46], and home of Beyoncé's best performance to date.[47] Via LinkedIn, Dylan was hired as 'Discord Specialist', working on Coachella's official Discord server[48]. Said server is seen to be linked on the official Coachella website.

On 29 January 2022, Dylan worked on promoting the Coachella Collectibles NFT project[49], creating awareness and engaging the community through the use of Discord.

On 5 April 2022, It was announced that Coachella were hosting Discord exclusive AMA's (Ask Me Anything's) with preforming artists.[50] The following day on 6 April, Dylan helped manage an AMA with French musician & Grammy Awards nominee[51], Hugo Pierre Leclercq (better known as 'Madeon').[52]

On 7 April 2022, Dylan worked on promoting the 88rising X Coachella NFT collection[53], creating awareness and engaging the community through the use of Discord.

On 14 April 2022, Dylan organised & managed an official Watch Party for the Coachella YouTube livestream.[54]

On 17 April 2022, Fxtch seemingly left the gaming community entirely; once leaving Team Singularity without any official statement, and changing up his YouTube content entirely. With the goal to now produce "Yes Theory like" videos, Dylan took a trip to Venice, Italy where he would film himself unsolicitedly visiting the worlds most haunted derelict island, Poveglia[55] - the island is said to be "forbidden to access", listed alongside the notorious Area 51 as one of the most forbidden places to visit on the globe.[56] Fans of Fxtch are concerned about his wellbeing, as no content has been posted since said visit.
