GRRRL (band)

GRRRL is an electronic music collaboration between revolutionary women, brought together by the charity In Place Of War - a global organisation that supports artistic creativity in places of conflict as a tool for positive change. GRRRL’s music is a blend of electronica, dancehall, rap and dark techno.

GRRRL music is directed by Brazil’s Laima Leyton from bands Mixhell and Soulwax.

Mercury Prize winning rapper Speech Debelle Zimbabwe’s Rap Queen AWA - African Women Arise Queen of Brazilian Dancehall - Lei Di Dai Young Lioness of Ghana - Wiyaala British Bangladeshi vocalist- Sohini Alam Electronic artist & producer - Afrodeutsche Original Nu-Jazz and folk singer - Nono Nkoane DJ and Percussionist from Caracas - MABE

GRRRL formed in 2016 and have performed at Shambala Festival, Greenbelt Festival and Freedom Festival Hull. They performed at the Closing Celebration of the Commonwealth Games in 2018 and have released their Debut EP - Woyale.
