Biography

In 2005 Uzryutova graduated from Ulyanovsk State University, Faculty of Culture and Art. The author writes since the childhood, the articles of the author were published in federal youth magazines. In 2006 and 2007, Uzryutova's prose was included in the long list of the All-Russian Literary Award Debut Prize.

In 2012-2013, the author participated in the Russian-German literary and photographic project Shots/Storie.s

In 2015, Moscow Publishing house Russian Gulliver published Uzryutova's debut book - a collection of poems «Turned around, and there was the forest» (The publishing house «Russian Gulliver», M., - 2015). In 2014, the manuscript of this book became the laureate of the special prize of the “Russian Gulliver” Publishing house. In 2016, with the book “Turned around, and there was the forest”, Usryutova was awarded as the laureate of Nikolay Blagov poetry prize.

Uzryutova - the author of the concept that considers poetry as an animal instinct. The poet says, the concept isn't only focused on rhythm and sound, but also on the state in which writing is going. According to this concept, a poem can't be controlled to transfer and save initially pledged, otherwise all originally pledged disappears and is replaced by the language. This conception is also focused on breaking the mental superstructure and touching the original – the physical perception, the poet says.

Uzryutova is interested in issues related to the mythologization of space, sound mentality, landscape mentality, etc.

In 2015 Uzryutova became a member of the Russian-German poetry project «VERSschmuggel» (the project of Goethe Institute Moscow and St. Petersburg and the Berlin Literary Workshop). In 2016 participated in the presentation of the Russian-Germany project poetry anthology in Heidelberg.

In 2017 Uzryutova worked at International Writers' and Translators' House in Ventspils (Latvia). In the same year the author became a winner (2nd place) of the short prose literary prize of Dmitry Gorchev.

In 2018, the poems of Uzryutova were included in the international manuscript book of modern poetry of UNESCO literary cities. The book includes poems 51 authors from 23 countries. In 2018 the author worked on the project, dedicated to poetry and the study of sound mentality, to analysis of poetry and sounds interrelation. The project “Slovenia: sounds & poetry” was realized during the work on the residence program “The writer in the park”, organized by the Ljubljana UNESCO City of Literature direction. In 2018 Uzryutova also was a member of poetry readings in Berlin during the literary project «auslandSPRACHEN – DIE WOSTOKREIHE».

In 2018, the second book of the author was published - a collection of short prose “The snow, I missed” (Publisher Bookscriptor, М., - 2018). The book became a laureate of The Bookscriptor 2018 literary prize in «New reality (intellectual prose)» nomination .

""The snow, I missed" is the mythology of the family, mixed with the mythology of the time of my growing up. Our memory works in a strange way, and after many years a man turn all experienced events into a myth. It seems everything was that way, not another one. The same thing happens with the perception of the history of the country, which is overgrown with a person's own ideas about life, about how it was and how it should be. Whatever credibility a man strives for, each person's perception distorts everything», - tells Gala Uzryutova about the book.

In 2018 Uzryutova became a laureate of the European Theater Translation Network drama contest Eurodram with her play «Dummerchen». In 2016, the play «Dummerchen» became the laureate of The International Drama Contest «Badenweiler».

In 2018, Uzryutova's short prose was included in the list of five finalist of the Russian-Italian literary prize «Raduga» (also in 2015 and 2017).

In 2019, the author's book “Country Sasha” (young adult prose) is published in Moscow's KompasGid publishing house.

Texts of Gala Uzryutova were translated into German, English, Slovenian, Latvian, Italian, Lithuanian.
