Gallery 1313 is a non-profit gallery exhibition local, national, and international contemporary art in Parkdale neighbourhood in downtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The gallery displays all media and supports emerging artists with professional development, career building opportunities, and develop their practice

Gallery 1313 opened its doors in January of 1998 and became the new home of its governing body; the Parkdale Village Arts Collective (PVAC) which was incorporated in 1997 and is now a group of 55 practicing artists from across the GTA. PVAC was originally established to provide support for the arts community and to encourage local economic development. PVAC is incorporated as a non-profit organization and received charitable status in July of 2005. Gallery 1313 has an elected Board of Directors consisting of 10 members. Gallery 1313 is located in the heart of Parkdale, a community with a rich history, a diverse population and an active arts focus. The building housing Gallery 1313 was originally a police station[2] Division 6 City of Toronto 1931- 1963 and is now a City Property heritage building managed by Artscape under a 20 year lease. Since its opening in 1998, the gallery has grown to include a third exhibition space called the “Process Gallery” which opened in May of 2003. The “Process Gallery” is predominantly used for showing video works and smaller installations. In October of 2005 the gallery also opened a window exhibition space. Gallery 1313 has received project funding from the Toronto Arts Council and the Ontario Arts Council. It has received funding from the Ontario Trillium Foundation and also received some capacity funding from the Parkdale Liberty Economic Development Corporation. The Gallery has one permanent employee; the director. It is an organizational member of ARCCO (the artist run centre and collectives of Ontario and OAAG (the Ontario Association of Art Galleries).

Programming[edit]

Gallery 1313 has over 70 exhibitions a year spread in its 4 spaces. It receives over 15,000 visitors a year and shows the work of over 400 artists in a given year. There are over 50 member artists at Gallery 1313. Their work can be seen on the web site www.g1313.org under members. Members also exhibit works in solo exhibitions – some 22 a year. The gallery focuses on supporting emerging artists and shows the work from local, national and international artists. It also runs several professional development workshops and panel talks on contemporary art. In a given year there are many school exhibitions as well from OCADU, York University, Ryerson University, Sheridan College and others.
