Gazi Kodzo (1990–) is an African human rights activist, and founder and commander-in-chief of the Black Hammer Organization (2019)..[1]. He was born on June 23, 1990, in Brooklyn, New York and is of Trinidadian descent.

Early life[edit]

Kodzo began organizing in his early twenties, becoming involved in political commentary on Youtube after the Trayvon Martin case.

Kodzo’s videos became viral for their controversial stances on African reparations, infamously being called “Black Hitler” on the Internet[2] and "The Most Racist Black Man Alive" by American YouTuber, Blair White. [3]

In 2014, Kodzo joined the African People’s Socialist Party (APSP) in Saint Petersburgh, Florida led by African socialist, Omali Yeshitela. Yeshitela announced in 2017 that Kodzo would become Secretary General of the party.

Shortly after, Kodzo and other former party members announced in his video that he left the party. The controversial YouTuber said he left the party due to political differences within the organization and alleged financial issues.[4].

After learning this, the party had issued a statement that Kodzo had been expelled from the party on November 28, 2018.

Black Hammer Organization[edit]

The following year, in February, Kodzo founded the Black Hammer Organization, an anti-colonial mass organization that is building black power. The symbol of the "Hammer" represents building a future where "no one lives at the expense of another." The organization does not allow white people and instead, ask that they pay reparations[5]

The organization is currently building a micro-nation called "Hammer City" in Florida that claims it will have no rent, police, coronavirus, and white people[6]

Politics[edit]

Kodzo’s political views would be described as pan-Africanist, and anti-colonial. He believes that colonized people should have control over their lives, labor and resources [7].

He is described by his critiques as the “Black Hitler” of YouTube — a term used to describe Kodzo’s alleged antisemitic claims. Kodzo posted a video titled “I’m Antisemitic” on YouTube, March 4, 2016, which drew in critiques from his viewers of Kodzo being a “black nationalist.”

Kodzo wrote on Twitter “F**K Anne Frank. As a Black child in america all through school I was propagandized to mourn a Becky.” His position being that white Jewish oppression should not be memorialized by Black people and should remember instead the continued genocide of our own people [8].

Kodzo videos call for reparations from colonizers, arguing that colonized people worldwide are due reparations for more than 500 years of colonialism and neocolonialism.

In 2016, the alt-right group called the “Proud Boys” formed by Gavin McInnes in the comments section of one of Kodzo's videos titled “White People are paying Reparations!”[9]
