Genovation Cars

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Genovation Cars is a Maryland, USA based manufacturer of electric supercars and the current Guinness World Records holder..[1] of the certified fastest[2], street legal, electric car in the standing mile.  The prototype GXE model debuted in 2016 and is based on a 2006 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 platform.  The vehicle is powered by a 700hp all-electric, twin-motor powertrain, producing 570ft.lbs of torque, and reached a maximum recorded top speed of 209mph, certified by the International Mile Racing Association (IMRA).[3]

Next Generation GXE[edit]

In 2018 the company began a limited production of 75 units[4] of the GXE based on the 2017 Corvette Grand Sport.  As of 2017, Michigan-based Prefix Corporation[5] is responsible for engineering integration, prototyping and production planning. Stafl Systems of California [6] oversees development of electrical systems, battery pack integration, powertrain refinement and performance. The GXE features a powertrain developing 800hp, 700ft.lbs of torque and a projected top speed of 220mph.  The pre-production GXE was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in 2018 and Genovation has begun a limited production of 75 bespoke cars with a price tag of US $750,000.[7]

Company History[edit]

Genovation Cars was founded in 2010 by American businessman Andrew Saul. In 2010, Saul, along with co-founders Steven Rogers and Robert Irby, led a team of engineers to develop the prototype GXE.

World Speed Records[edit]

In February 2016, engineers took the prototype GXE to Space Florida’s[8] Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds [9]at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida. On February 23, 2016, the car reached a top speed of 186.8mph.  The speed was measured by IMRA and certified as the fastest measured for a street legal all-electric vehicle.

On July 28, 2016, the GXE set a high speed record of 205.6mph and a standing mile record of 189.481, both certified by IMRA.  The Guinness World Records organization recognized this as a new category for all-electric vehicles and awarded a World Record Certificate[10].

In February, 2016 the GXE piloted by Johnny Bohmer, set IMRA certified records of 209mph top speed and 190.48mph in the standing mile.

Powertrain and Battery[edit]

Genovation engineers incorporated a single shaft, dual-stack (two motor) electric powertrain paired with inverters to power the twin motors to maximum torque at an RPM the Corvette manual transmission components could tolerate. Subsequently, a battery pack capable of providing enough voltage and current to meet the 250kW of power to each inverter simultaneously, was developed and output enhanced by custom software and algorithms.
