Ghislaine de Bragelonne (Bragelonne)

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

The Paris-based painter Ghislaine de BRAGELONNE traces her ancestry back for ten centuries. Among her most illustrious ancestors we find the Vicomte de Bragelonne, whose cloak and dagger exploits were celebrated in Alexandre Dumas' volume of the same name (1849 - 1850) and its sequel, The Three Musketeers.

About the Artist'

The artist, who signs her works as Bragelonne, brings a collection of 18 oils on canvas to Artexpo following the New York debut of her work in 2002 at the Alliance Française French Institute on 60th street. Called A Day in September, the exhibition opened on 11 September and featured works provoked by the painter's reactions to the tragedy of terrorist attacks. Bragelonne maintains close ties to the United States and especially to New York City, where she lived for ten years. It is the birthplace of three of her children. She conceives of the current exhibit as a homage to New York.

Highly appreciated in France, Bragelonne begins her career after a major solo exhibition in 1998 at the prestigious Espace Ricard on the Rue Royale in Paris. Consisting of three rooms organized around seperate themes (Les Japonais, les Abstraits and les Chevaux de Marly), the exhibit virtually sold out.

Her success is the fruit of much serious study, including three years of work at the Atelier Macavoy (1990 - 93), whose founder had long been the President of the Salon d'Autumn in the Grand Palais, where her work was featured in 1991. This period was followed by five years at the Atelier Typhaïne in Paris, and her current discipline of daily work in her studio.
