From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Goettel Park is located on Route 11 in the Village of Central Square, New York in Oswego County. It is open daily from 9 am to dark and is easily accessible with two convenient entrances. Year-round this park serves many purposes to the community. Each year a 9/11 remembrance ceremony is held at the park, and every December there is a tree lighting ceremony. In the spring, many teams use the ball fields for practices and games. Summertime brings Concerts in the Park and the Summer Recreation Program. The bathroom facilities and pavilion provide an enjoyable picnic area and there is a playground to provide entertainment for children.

History[edit]

This 5-acre park was once owned by Abraham Goettel. On September 15, 1920, the land was deeded to the Central Square school for athletic purposes. On September 18, 1928, the land was transferred to the Village for the cost of $1.00, with the agreement that the land would always be used for recreational purposes.

Over the years, it has been referred to as The Ball Park or Community Park before becoming what it is known as today, Goettel Community Park.
