Gor Yeritsyan (Armenian: Գոռ Երիցյան; born 26 December 1994, in Yerevan, Armenia) is an Armenian professional boxer who held the WBO Youth Welter Title in 2018.[1][2][3] As an amateur, Yeritsyan represented Armenia at the Dublin 2011 EUBC European Youth Championships in the super-featherweight division, winning a bronze medal.[4][5]
Amateur career[edit]
Yeritsyan started boxing at the age of nine. Gor Yeritsyan won a bronze medal at the 2010 European Junior (Under-17) Championships.[6]He also won a bronze medal at the 2011 European Youth (Under-19) Championships. He became a 6-time national amateur champion. his amateur career record was 151–30.[7]
Professional career[edit]
Early career[edit]
Yeritsyan turned professional at age 22 on May 27, 2017. In his first professional bout, he fought against Denis Kenzhegaliev, winning the match by TKO in the third round. Yeritsyan soon signed with Punch Boxing Promotions in November 2019.
WBO Youth Welter Title[edit]
Yeritsyan vs. Lagumbay[edit]
On 18 December 2018, Gor Yeritsyan defeats Alvin Lagumbay via TKO at 1:33 of Round 2, and claimed the vacant WBO Youth Welter Title.[8]
Rising up the ranks[edit]
Yeritsyan vs. Funeka
On 28 July 2018, Yeritsyan beat Ali Funeka by unanimous decision. Funeka suffered an eight-round shutout loss, against the hard-hitting Armenian.[9][10]
Yeritsyan vs Sakai[edit]
On 2 November 2019,Gor Yeritsyan scored his 12th consecutive victory after beating Japanese boxer Shoki Sakai during the professional boxing event held at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson City, California.[11]
Gor was outscoring Sakai during the 8-round duel, and based on the referees’ decision, the Armenian boxer beat Sakai (80-72, 79-73, 77-75).[12]
Yeritsyan vs Montes[edit]
On 3 December 2020,Gor Yeritsyan defeats Mahonri Montes (36-10-1, 25 KO).[13]The fight was stopped 16 seconds into the sixth round when Montes showed no capability of avoiding the blows by Yeritsyan. The official decision awarded Yeritsyan the TKO stoppage win via accumulation of punches.[14][15]
Personal lif[edit]
from October 2018, he is trained by Freddie Roach who also trained legends like Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto at his gym in Hollywood, California. Freddie Roach said about Gor Yeritsyan that he Reminds him of a Young Pacquiao in the interview with boxingscene.[16]
