Cyber Art[edit]
Cyber Art is an art movement inspired in space: light, black, and it virtual world. More exactly, it includes light (lately LED), and new virtual technologies like VR, AR and Holography. It’s become the beginning of a new era in the conquer of physics and astrophysics.
History[edit]
Art movements are evolving with light and darkness in history art: from Classic Antiquity, Gothic, Rococo, and Neoclassicism art movements combing with dark periods: from Romanesque Art, Baroque and Romatisicism periods. It was with the invention of electricity that Dan Flavin’s light sculptures in the 1960’s used electric light. Nowadays is developing in LED light in the use of cloths and accessories that combine light. Artists like Yayoi Kusama uses lights in 3D in the present. Black: Dark matter inspires human artistic expression.
High Tech inspiration: Artists began using video to transport us to a virtual world, like Nam Yune Paik and Bill Viola, specially in the 1980’s. Soon other artists moved to other ways of using electricity in their art pieces, further more electronics applied to interaction. With the invention of Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality artists build new dimensions using diverse technologies. Holography are developing is the new dimension creating images in virtual 3D.Physics and astrophysics study other dimensions, like String Theory.
Media: Music has also been developing Cyber Art throughout history using anaphoras and sound related to space, like lyrics mentioning astrophysics and cyber world and sound like music and lyrics from [[U2], or Billy Idol's Cyberpunk, also Muse in Black Holes and Revelations from 2006. AR, VR, and Holograms are used not only in fine art and entertainment, (represented in movies like Blade Runner or VR in Steven Spielberg’s Ready Player One, and Videogames), but also these arts are used publicity nowadays.
Fashion: LED light, technology, and black are used in fashion design that imitate space and the virtual world. Designers like Pierre Balmain and Brands like CuteCircuit expand the concept of cyber.
The current discoveries in physics and astrophysics bring us closer to space in all human expressions developing cyber expression.
