History[edit]

As a way of helping the new wage of immigrants in the 1990s, HOY en Delaware newspaper was founded by José M. Somalo in 1996, out of a home office in the town of Seaford.
With statewide coverage from the beginning, the local Hispanic news media has been growing steadily to better cover and inform the base of readers and followers.
In 2005, the first commercial office was open in the more centrally located town of Georgetown, capital of the southern county. It's during the following year, than the first web page www.hoyendelaware.com is being developed in-house.
Adapting to the times and printing industry, a social presence in Facebook was created in 2013 (www.facebook.com/HOYenDelaware).
By 2016, the need to better cover the growing Hispanic population in the northern county of New Castle moves the company to open a second commercial office into the redeveloping downtown Wilmington.
Virgina Esteban, a professional lawyer from Spain, is the editor and event organizer.
