Hassan Mohamed Esufally
Hassan Esufally (born June 5, 1991) is the first Sri Lankan to run a marathon on all seven continents.[1][2] Esufally this achieved by finishing the Antarctic Ice Marathon & 100k ultra race on December 13th 2018.[3] During this goal he also become the first Sri Lankan to finish the Inca Trail Marathon[4] (considered to be the hardest marathon in the world[5][6][7]), and first Sri Lankan to finish the Big 5 marathon (run through wildlife in African Savannah) in South Africa.[8]
Esufally has also completed the IRONMAN Triathlon at the IRONMAN Asia Pacific Championships in Cairns Australia in 2016.[9][10]
Early life and education[edit]
Hassan Esufally was born in Sri Lanka on June 5 1991. He graduated high school from the British School in Colombo in 2011. For his undergraduate degree, Esufally received a merit based scholarship to attend the University of Melbourne.[11] He graduated from the University of Melbourne where he completed a double major in management and marketing in December 2014, where he attended Ormond College.[12]

Hassan Esufally worked in the corporate world in Australia after graduating University and subsequently returned home to join his family's tea business[13] He formally announced his goal to run a marathon across all seven continents in April 2018.[14]
Family and personal life[edit]
He is the son of Mohamed and Sarah Esufally and he has two younger sisters. He is married to his wife Rashida and lives in Colombo, Sri Lanka.[15]

Hassan Esufally has completed ten 42.2 km marathons across seven continents and is a member of the 7 Continents Marathon Club. He is also the first Dawoodi Bohra to run a marathon across all seven continents.[16]
