Helen I. Marieskind Dr. PhD. is an American author, scholar, and pioneer in the Women's Health Movement. She received education in public health services delivery, maternal/child health, and medical anthropology and has professional editing experience.[1][2] Marieskind contributed to the feminist movements in the 1970s and her publications include Cesarean Section in the United States: Has It Changed Since 1979?[3] and The Women’s Health Movement[4], which was published in 1975 and outlined the emergence of the Women's Health Movement grassroots organization beginning in 1970. Additionally, she was a founding editor of the academic, open source, peer reviewed journal Women and Health.[1][4]

Early Life and Education[edit]

While she grew up in New Zealand, Marieskind has lived predominantly in the US since she attended school there on scholarship.[2] She has a PhD in Public Health[2] and has numerous publications mostly focusing on women's health issues and reproductive justice.

Career and Research[edit]

Marieskind has worked in US government and private health programs, and also has experience in corporate, multinational, and non-profit work in US politics.[1] She has worked as a Finance Director for John Kerry's campaign team when he stood for presidency.[2] Additioally, she has informed and improved the treatment of migrant workers in the US through her work with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.[2] Now, Marieskind lives in both Auckland, New Zealand and near Seattle, USA.[1] As of 2022 she was working with New Zealand's Volunteer Service Abroad as an English Language Trainer and Editor in an education program in The Republic of Kiribati.[1]
