Henry Holmes (sea captain)
Henry Holmes was a sea-captain who lived 1819 - 1913. He is famous for having discovered Holmes Reef: (ref):https://www.dive-the-world.com/diving-sites-australia-great-barrier-reef-holmes-reef.php Captain Holmes also wrote 'Life and Adventures on the Ocean' about his life as a sea-captain. Although there is no date in the first edition, his narrative makes it clear that the book was written in 1902. It is believe to have been published in 1903-4. Holmes based his accounts on his childhood diaries, titling the first section of the book 'Beauty's Log'.
